Job Description

CNC Prototype Machinist ($25-$30)

NuVasive Specialized Orthopedics (NSO)

We are a small but effective team of 3 Sr. Prototype Machinist operating in a temperature controlled modern medical R&D machine shop please note this is NOT a production shop. We are currently seeking an individual who is passionate about this skilled trade. Position Requirements

Self-motivated individual with a CAN-DO attitude who can work independently as well as work effectively in a collaborative team environment. Must have knowledge of machine shop best practices and procedures. Must have at least 3 years’ experience programming with Mastercam and operating conventional Mills, Lathes and CNC Mills, Lathes.

Ability to read and understand GD&T blueprint drawings, Attention to detail oriented, Proficient using conventional Mill & Lathe, Program using Mastercam 3axis Milling & 2axis Turning, Tool Setup Mills & Lathes, strong written and verbal communication skills, basic metrology knowledge, First article inspection,

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

As a prototype machinist, you will be expected to collaborate with shop manager and engineers on fabricating prototypes. You will be responsible for planning a fabrication strategy and executing form start to finish. CNC machine program using Mastercam software. Set up and operate a variety of CNC and conventional machines tools to produce precision parts and instruments

Preferred Qualifications

Desired Experience with ( Note: Willing to develop skills on the equipment below)

CNC Nakamura-Tome Lathe with dual spindle and live tooling, CNC Okuma Lathe with OSP-P300, CNC Sodick Wire EDM with WS4P rotary, Top EDM Drill, CNC Hass VF2 2-5axis, Markforged X7 3D printer, Mitutoyo optical comparator with QM-Data 200 controller, Mastercam programming software 4-5axis, Solidworks CAD Software.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift, push and pull objects that are 40lbs, Must be able to bend, stretch, twist or reach out

Must have the ability to make precision adjustment to machine controls.

Education

Graduated from a technical school, have a Machinist certificate or full apprenticeship program.
